The parents and guardians of VASJ students are an extremely important part of the Viking family. Parents are a vital part in helping support and nurture the talents and educational progress of their students. VASJ parent involvement is a component of a Viking education that is vital to the success of the students and, ultimately, the school. Our parents are extremely willing to participate in fundraising activities, volunteer at school functions and take a front seat in ensuring the success of their son or daughter.
Parent Testimonial
Mrs. Kathy Roach, a longtime VASJ parent, had this to say about the school, "While I was helping Mary (Kathy's daughter, a 2004 grad) put together a memory book of her high school career, I realized how fortunate she was to have so many opportunities available to make her high school experience so meaningful. My three children have had a wonderful education at VASJ and I am pleased that they were encouraged to be involved in the school community as much as possible. I have wonderful memories of the years my children have attended VASJ and wish to thank all the staff for helping make the school the wonderful place it is."
Parent Library Established: A VASJ Parent Library has been established within the school's library that contains a number of different parent-related books that parents and guardians of VASJ students can check out. Some topics include: SAT preparation, scholarships, financial aid, alcohol, discipline, teen sexuality, college admission essays, prom, ending homework hassles, navigating college, getting and keeping a job, courage to be yourself, resolving conflicts, sibling rivalry, volunteering, etc.
Please see VASJ Librarian Mrs. Sue Skehan to see the actual selections available.
TMS & Tuition Payment Policy (Effective Nov. 1, 2006)
Per VASJ’s contract with Tuition Management Systems (TMS), the school will NO LONGER be responsible for receiving and calling in tuition payments that families who are a part of the TMS program make directly to the school.
**If you have a contract with TMS, beginning November 1, 2006, you must make all of your payments directly to TMS. VASJ will no longer accept payments that should be directed to TMS. If you have another arrangement with the school, please continue to honor that arrangement.**
The implementation of this policy will work to not only enforce all contracts that are currently in place, it will also help eliminate late fees and other complications that could occur.
Therefore, it is very important that all families must make sure that payments are mailed or called in on-time to TMS. VASJ’s partnership with TMS is in place for this system to be followed so that payments are received and credited appropriately.
ATTENTION PARENTS:
Please note that the following are not eligible for the “paid in full” discount for the 2007/2008 school year:
- MUSP Scholarship students
- Cleveland scholarship & tutoring program students
- EdChoice Scholarship students
Students in these programs are not eligible because tuition is not completely paid in full upfront. Tuition is received incrementally throughout the year, therefore students in these programs are not eligible for the discount. |
